Are Zebra Blinds and Zebra Shades The Same?
“Zebra blinds” is a misnomer for “zebra shades,” which use alternating layers of opaque or room-darkening fabric and sheer fabrics. Zebra shades are also called banded shades. What are Zebra Shades?
Hunter Douglas Banded Shades are made from a single layer of overlapping fabric. Typically, the fabric panels alternate between strips of sheer fabric and opaque or room-darkening fabric. This gives you excellent light control in a modern shade. When you align like strips, you block out the sun’s rays while improving your view of the outdoors and letting in natural light. When the strips are misaligned, the opaque strips lie over the sheer fabric strips to some degree so you can diffuse and even block light. This could be why zebra shades are mistaken as zebra blinds.
The modern style is versatile and allows for excellent light control and privacy. The fabrics are available in over 90 color and fabric combinations, so you can select the colors you like most and complement your home. Hunter Douglas Banded Shades also have another unique aspect.
